Dr. K is hands down the best bird doctor- she handled my parrot almost stress free even with drawing blood. Prompt lab results. The staff there is courteous and friendly. I would recommend!

I am so happy with my experience at Montgomery Animal Hospital over the past 4 years. Before I moved here I researched vets to find a primary care provider for my rabbit. I saw that Montgomery Animal Hospital is AAHA Accredited as well as having veterinarians with experience treating exotic animals. Here I found Dr. Krumanaker and the whole staff to be so wonderful, compassionate and knowledgeable. I know some people feel like vets can sometimes push extra services, but I’ve never gotten that feeling here. I’ve always felt like the focus is genuinely on my rabbit’s wellbeing. I really appreciate that. They always have an open room ready for me opposed to having me sit in the waiting room with any dogs that are also visiting. This precaution makes me feel extra safe, bringing my rabbit here. One thing I really value is how much time they dedicate to each patient. They’re always willing to go above and beyond, provide extra care when needed, and take the time to answer my questions. I wouldn’t change a single thing about my experience here. Thank you all for making me feel my rabbit is safe in your care!

I cannot recommend Dr. K enough. She was very knowledgeable about our little mice. It’s extremely hard to find a vet this well versed in exotic animals and their specific needs and potential problems. She answered all of my questions and was able to provide me with much needed answers.

This review is not about a bad experience. It is about what happens when a clinic treats patients as billing line items instead of loved family members, and what that costs. A few years ago, we brought our cat in for a senior wellness panel. Their thyroid came back elevated above the reference range. The IDEXX lab report flagged it directly as consistent with hyperthyroidism. A vet tech called and told us it was probably not a concern, and that the doctor would call if they felt differently. That call never came. No monitoring plan was documented. We believed a medical professional who told us everything was fine, and our cat went undiagnosed for years while the tumor grew. Hyperthyroid muscle wasting is gradual and insidious - owners who see their pet daily are among the last to notice because their baseline recalibrates continuously. This is precisely why a flagged T4 demands clinical follow-through rather than reassurance delivered by a vet tech and filed away. Hyperthyroidism has a 90% treatment success rate when caught. The clinic had the flag. They chose reassurance. By the time our cat was seen here again, they had lost more than half their body weight to years of unmanaged thyroid disease. The clinic recorded weight from years earlier rather than weighing them at this visit - despite a body condition score physically incompatible with that number. We were charged full price for a panel that included a thyroid level that came back incomplete. Rather than redraw the single most critical value, the clinic recommended euthanasia - without a current thyroid number, on a fabricated body weight, with an age error contradicting their own system. The labs showed critically low potassium causing muscle weakness and labored breathing. The clinic did not identify this as a treatment priority. We raised it. They recommended an in-office IV - scheduled days out - for a cat in active crisis. We purchased an oral supplement ourselves that day. That supplement is what stabilized her. The medications prescribed included a dose calculated against the wrong body weight and an appetite stimulant FDA-indicated for chronic kidney disease - not hyperthyroidism. We had to fight to get any treatment at all. We purchased the supplements actually required over the counter ourselves. Our cat lived months longer than this clinic believed they would - not because of their care, but in spite of it. The failure years ago was not dramatic. It was a phone call that reassured us when it should have alarmed us, and a follow-up that never came. Not malice. Just a flagged result treated as a checkbox rather than a living animal that someone loved. I wrote this review entirely anonymously. The clinic chose to respond by publicly naming my cat and disclosing her medical history without consent - a violation of veterinary client confidentiality every reader should note. I will address one factual error. The clinic states they "recorded a body weight of 4.5 lbs at her January visit." The physical exam record they provided states 8.9 lbs. That number does not appear anywhere in their printed records. Medication was prescribed using a weight that exists only in their Google response. Regarding their claim of "careful monitoring" since 2023: their own records tell a different story. The June 2023 lab result - flagged as consistent with hyperthyroidism - was communicated by a vet tech who said it was "not a concern at this point." The clinic's own follow-up note reads: "ok with plan as long as owner calls if any weight loss or clinical signs." One follow-up call seven months later. A deferral accepted. No further contact for two full years - while a flagged, progressive disease went unmanaged. Every statement above is drawn from the records they provided to us. Hyperthyroidism is treatable. Years ago, all options were still open. By the time we were back in that office, those options were closed.

Very friendly and professional services in a scheduled checkup of our cat. Check-in, tech review of our cat's history and status, and evaluation and treatment by a vet all went well. Left with a plan for Trix to lose a little weight!
